Blending history with the present

Blending history with the present

'It is photography itself that creates the illusion of innocence. Its ironies of frozen narrative lend to its subjects an apparent unawareness that they will change or die. It is the future they are innocent of. Fifty years on we look at them with the godly knowledge of how they turned out after all – who they married, the date of their death – with no thought for who will one day be holding photographs of us.' Ian McEwan, Black Dogs : pg 37

One fine day in the middle of the night…

One fine day in the middle of the night…

Brook and I had a brilliant time with Denis Smith at Port Noarlunga with a Shimmer Photographic Biennale workshop. Informative and fun the 4 hour workshop was a perfect balance of theory and practice. We were very rugged up but the weather gods were kind with only the lightest sprinkling of rain at the end of a productive night. Here for your viewing pleasure is our first foray into light painting...

Art of the Flower

Art of the Flower is on again at the Burra Regional Art Gallery. I managed to get three works in this year and am very happy to announce that I won the "photography and digital works" prize as judged by gardening writer Trevor Nottle. Auburn artist Christian Vocke , whose fresh and dynamic work I admire, won the open section and I hear on the grapevine he is pleased as punch with the well deserved recognition. The exhibition will be on show until November 23, 2011.

Oh, did I mention I am a jeweller?

Oh, did I mention I am a jeweller?

A long, long time ago in a galaxy remarkably close if not indeed this very one I studied jewellery and metalsmithing and got myself my very own HECS debt and a shiny Bachelor of Design. Due to my recent pregnancy and now current breastfeeding status I have been reluctant to pursue my metal based art due to toxic type concerns. Soon however I hope to wield my trusty hammer and various other neglected tools before I forget how to ride this particular proverbial bike.

For the purposes of car design I created, Viento the company that produces the Viento range of cars. Illustrated above are two version of the Viento range. This design flow is currently their flagship design of the same name. The Viento GT is named so because of the sporty coupe GT design and the Viento Open is named so because of the convertible design. Yes I know it's kind of obvious but it had to be said.
