JUMPING FENCES is a landscape exhibition showing artists of the Mid North and West Coast of South Australia, a project of Burra Regional Art Gallery, currently showing in Burra until May 1 and then to be exhibited at 69 Smith Street Gallery in Fitzroy from May 22 to June 9 2013.

The “fences” of the title are Spencer Gulf, which separates South Australia’s settled areas west from east, the SA/Vic border isolating artists by distance and a line on the map, and the mindset of these divides which this exhibition attempts to overcome.

A celebration of the unique qualities of a selection of SA regional artists. The words in the brochure essay by John Neylon promote it as a serious foray into new ground, enhancing and clarifying the concept of clearing barriers and placing the artists’ work in context with the landscape they inhabit and love.

Curated by Lis Jones Ingman I am so pleased to be included in this fabulous exhibition.
